do u have 2 cut in first then use a roller.how big do u cut in an wont it show at the top of the wallI am about 2 paint my walls with a roller do u recomend cutting in and how does it help?
YES you have to cut in start with youe cielings then your inside corners you may need two coats, roll your walls do about 3 to 4 feet back roll and repeat along the walls KEEP A WET EADGE (back rolling ) cut in your cieling by about 3-4 inches so your roller misses the cieling Always remember K A W E .keep a wet eadge, have fun remember the drop sheet.I am about 2 paint my walls with a roller do u recomend cutting in and how does it help?
I cut in with a 25mm (1';) brush.

It doesn't show.
As a 37 year experienced painter..here is the formula....If you are using a flat latex, you can roll first then cut in....If you are using mattes, satins, semi gloss, or gloss you must cut in then roll last or it will show..also to keep in mind...do not cut in the whole room then roll..you must keep a ';wet edge'; or it will picture frame on you(show the cut in marks)..if your not real fast at cutting in..cut in one wall only, then roll that wall..cut in the next wall then roll...
You can't get a neat edge with a roller. Go round the edges (corners, wall and ceiling) with a brush. It's that simple.

Mine and the 2nd and 3rd answers got thumbs-down from the 4th answer, who answered the same. Cool, huh?
you can cut in as much as you think as long as you can get close enough with the roller - i'd suggest about 1-2 inches,

its also lots easier painting with one of those pads rather than a roller - they even work with blown vinyl
Yes you must alway cut in or you will hit the ceiling with your roller on the ceiling trying to ge t to the top. Cut in about two inches down from the ceiling. Don't let the cut in dry completely and when you roll don't roll over the cut in or you will get a ribbon effect around the room. Blend your roller into the cut in preferebly when it's still wet everything will blend in if you don't overlap. Good luck
Why roller when u can use a paint pad - so much faster and no mess. I cut in as i go along so you can blend it in before it dries.
Yes you will have to cut in at the top, bottom and at the corners. using a roller is much faster than a paint pad for large surfaces. use a 2'; brush if you can, it'll be faster. choose a good brush with a really flat edge hold it like you would a pen and try it out in the shop as if you were painting to check how it feels and if the edge is easy to control. Make sure you have a damp cloth so that if you touch the ceiling you can wipe it off straight away. If you are using a matt emulsion you can get away with cutting in at the skirting on one wall then the ceiling and corners but if you use a silk you will have to cut in in sections (to keep a wet edge) or it will show - the same goes with an oil paint. Make sure the paint isn't too thick or all the brush marks will show - thin with water if water based and white spirit if oil based. Have fun and remember practise makes perfect so it will be easier next time.
