Can I use a roller to hand-paint metallic paint like I did for solid color paint?

i don't know the actual answer but i would think a roller would not do a good job, too many curves etc in a car. either hand or preferably spray paint would probably be best. check with a automotive spray painting or crash repair place.Can I use a roller to hand-paint metallic paint like I did for solid color paint?
