Painting a concrete patio: sprayer vs roller?

Hello all,





I am going to try and paint my concrete patio. I've read on here where some people used the pest sprayers and mixed their concrete paint in it and then sprayed the concrete. Has anyone else ever used a roller and painted the concrete (with concrete paint) the same way as you would paint a wall? Any info or help would greatly be appreciated.

You would paint the concrete patio with a ';floor'; paint suitable for use on interior or exterior concrete depending on your situation (i.e. if the patio is enclosed and covered or exposed to the elements).





Floor paints are almost always applied with a roller, and the roller will push the paint into the pores of the concrete which is one thing a sprayer won't do.

Use a roller and a brush for work close to the house. You'll end up with paint all over if you try to use a sprayer for this project. Be sure you buy the appropriate type of paint for concrete and clean it thoroughly as recommended by the manufacturer of the paint.


Some concrete stains are applied by sprayer but caution is taken so the stain won't get on other objects.
deffinatly use a roller! here is a little warning though. paint on floors inside or out are extremely SLIPPERY when wet. and they will continue to be dangerous until the paint wears away.


Try adding about 1 cup of sand to the gallon of paint and mix well. you can buy colord sand at most doller stores!
Roller. You can ensure an even coating.





I would not use a pest sprayer for paint as paint is too thick and can clog it. Additionally, it can cause health risks for the people who use it.
Roller!! The slightest breeze and you paint the lawn with a sprayer (or worse, the side of the house!)
