What's the best way to clean paint rollers?

Cleaning paint rollers depends entirely upon what type of paint you've used. If it's a water-based latex, the best thing to do is to hold it under running water and use a curved tool (they have them at paint stores) to push the paint out of the roller. It takes a bit, but once the water is running clear, you can then place the roller someplace to dry and reuse at a later time.

If you're going to be using the same paint again and just have to stop for a while, it's easier to wrap the roller in saran wrap and a plastic bag. The paint on the roller (or brush for that matter) will stay wet and you'll be able to continue later.

If the paint you used was oil-based, you'll need paint thinner to clean both brushes and rollers. However, I've never had much success getting oil-based paint out of rollers. What's the best way to clean paint rollers?
throw them away and buy new ones. .... very cleanWhat's the best way to clean paint rollers?
I buy the cheap and toss when done.
With warm and soapy water as soon as you are done and the roller is still wet.
There is a painters tool that helps get most of the paint out before u clean the roller( looks like a putty knife called a 7 in one painters tool ).
if you are using oil paints .. then soak in white spirit over night and rinse with white spirit ... if you are using water based paints just rinse in water
I let mine soak overnight in a 5 gallon bucket of water then blast them out with a hose end sprayer in the morning. Latex paint.
latex paint: dishwashing soap and water- rinse antil water runs clear.

Oil- Throw them away- they are cheap and not worth the effort of cleaning that kind of paint off of them.

**A Tip*** If you are putting away your rollers/brushes and are not done with your project yet but will be using them again the next day, you can seal them in a big ziplock bag and put in the refrigerator adn use them the next day and they wont be dried out!! Then you only have to clean them once at the very end of the project instead of every day!!
Latex paint or oil paint? Essentially the same method applies to both, except that you use paint thinner with oil paint instead of water. I'll call both solvent after this.

Roll the roller out until there is nothing coming out any more. Roll it in the solvent, then paint it out again until no more comes out. Do this about 4 to 5 times. When the sauce coming out looks like pure solvent, take the paint retaining part off the roller and stand it upright, for additional draining and drying.

With latex paint I usually milk the cloth part until dry using my hands, then wet it and repeat that until clear water comes off. Takes about 2 to 3 minutes max.
Hi! Dont waste your time - buy new ones
