If it's Latex paint, plain old soap %26amp; water should do it! I've done A LOT of painting and I think it's just better to buy a new one than try and get them good and clean and re-useable;) If you are going to use it again soon, and with the same paint, just wrap it in plastic wrap (Without cleaning it) and stick it in the fridge~it will stay nice and soft, ready to go!

if oil then paint thinner or mineral spirit
or simply dump in garbage lol lol
