How can i eliminate the lines from a paint roller on my walls?

im painting walls in my family room a very dark red im using a high quality paint (benjamin moore) i first primed the walls with a tinted red primer just like your supposed to. After applying 2 coats it looked terrible (uneven coverage, and roller marks) iv'e painted many times before and never had this problem. Iv'e used every possible technique i could think of (the 'w' method 'n' method 'v' method ,diagonal strokes horizontal strokes etc,etc.) after about the 4th coat i began to get better coverage however when the paint dries there are visible vertical lines . Iv'e tried 1/4 inch nap rollers 1/2 inch and 3/8's but to no avail always the same result. I'm careful to make sure to blend each new sectoin of paint withe the previous so as to keep a wet edge until the wall is done but still the same result , this past sunday i painted the 8th coat with 1/4 inch roller and ended up with a few less lines but still too many noticable lines.How can i eliminate the lines from a paint roller on my walls?
Red is the hardest color to paint, red pigment is almost see through, in stead of using a red primer, you should have used a grey tinted primer, this enhances the color more than the red does. Also, your roller fully loaded with paint, should cover about 2x2 feet, the second you hear that zipping sound reload your roller. If your having trouble with the texture the roller is leaving, try a foam roller, I don't care for them, but it's an idea.How can i eliminate the lines from a paint roller on my walls?
LOL! You're going to have like a 1/4 inch of extra protection from the elements there!


The only thing I can think of is that you should try less pressure on the roller. I often get the same type of lines when I press too hard.


Other than that I would have no idea what would cause it besides the ';high quality'; paint itself. Maybe it's not what you thought it was!

RED is the most difficult color to use when painting You might be applying to much pressure on the roller or not using enough paint and spreading it to thin.


I've had to use 3 coats when using RED but did not have streaks, roller marks etc.
Welcome to red paint. The only thing worse is bright yellow. I've done a few walls in deep reds and maroons. All I can say is more coats of paint and less pressure on the roller.
u should always use a grey tinted primer for red. but maybe lighter strokes will help solve the lines
